June Challenges are up at Scrapping Everyday Miracles

It's June 1st which means it's time for new challenges at

Scrapping Everyday Miracles.

As always there are 3 ways to join us each month,

a card sketch, a layout sketch,

and the main theme.

I went with the theme this month...

Challenge #1:  The Theme Challenge

Theme: Each new day is a gift.

Scripture Inspiration:

James 1:17  ^"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

I created a page in my art journal.

The background was done during the time I worked on other projects.

The paper was used as a place to clean my stamps and stencils off,

while using up extra paint.

When I was ready to finish it up I already had a background created.

I love the them this month.

It's something I can relate to easily and an impotent message

I try to relay to my children.

Every morning you get to start over.

What can YOU do today to make it an awesome one?

I used stickers from Club Scrap and Echo Park to write the sentiment down.

There are Rub Ons from Hambly Studio scattered across the page

just for fun.

There are also some diamond stickers added just because they caught my eye on my desk.

It's May

and for many of us that means that Spring is finally here.

Time for warmer weather, rainbow colors in the garden, windows open,

flip flops and aacchooo!

It also means it's time for another challenge at 

Scrapping Everyday Miracles.

I went with the theme…

The Theme Challenge

May's theme:  Renew - New - Rebirth

Scripture Inspiration: 

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

This is what I started with.

Old paper which had been laying on my work desk.

I used it to clean up extra paint, stencils, inked stamps etc.

What many would call trash,

I used the Bible Verse as inspiration and made it new.

I added some chipboard colored with Gelatos.

Prima flowers and a few gem brads

(seriously was cleaning out and using up to make new here).

In the end I have created a new page in my art journal using the leftovers from before.

Welcome to APRIL!
It's time for new challenges at
Scrapping Everyday Miracles

As always we have 3 ways to create and enter:

Challenge #1:  The Theme Challenge

We hope our monthly theme, layout, and card challenges will help you meet your goals while encouraging you to see the daily miracles all around you!

Choose 1 or more:  Faith, Hope, Love

These foundations of the walk as a Christian come from God's Holy Word in 1 Corinthians 13:13.

Bible Verse Inspiration: We hope you will use these Scriptures to inspire your projects!

• Hebrews 11:1  "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
• Romans 15:13  "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."
• 1 Corinthians 16:14  "Let all that you do be done in love."

You may enter any type of papercrafted project that fits the theme of "Faith, Hope, Love," or any combination of these!  You may enter a layout, card, tag, wall hanging, canvas, gift packaging, etc.. - as long as it uses paper as one of it's materials! 

Challenge #2:  The Card Sketch

Beginning in January, we have featured card sketches that we hope have offered some variety for you to work with!  This month again we feature a sketch from Pagemaps!

Challenge #3 The Layout Sketch

 Beginning in January with a sketch featuring 4 photo spots, we have featured a sketch each month with a decreasing number of featured photos on each sketch! And now we come to April and a 1 photo feature!  This sketch was supplied by Pagemaps!

I went with the theme and this is what I created.

8x10 mixed media canvas.

Large heart doily with flower cluster. 

The chipboard is from Blue Fern Studios

The background is created with Gelatos, blotted with paper

towels for a mottled effect.

Stamping with Solvent ink .

Acrylic paint through a Stencil Girl stencil.

And more stamping with a clear acrylic stamp and paint.

The chipboard was covered with Lumiere 3D paint by Jacquard.

It's time for another challenge at 

Scrapping Everyday Miracles.

The theme this month is 

Laughter is the best medicine

You have 3 ways of entering each month

-Use the theme and create whatever you desire

-Use the card sketch provided on the blog

-Use the layout sketch provided on the blog

I created a piece using the theme

and...

Here is what I created.

I started with a blank page in my art journal and randomly add some torn pages from a book.

Misted with Buccaneer Bronze Moonshadow mist from Lindy's Stamp Gang.

Some Distress Paints and Silk's Acrylic Glazes on top of that.

Cheesecloth and Rub ons

I fussy cut the flower from a piece of Prima paper.

The image was a free one in a Stampington magazine.

Chipboard colored with Distress Paint, then a Copper Paint dabber 

and finally rubbed with black ink.

Prima letter stickers were outlined with Sharpie to give my title.

A house filled with love….and a new challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles

It's February:

the month of love

AND

time for a new challenge at 

Scrapping Everyday Miracles.

Now as always there are several ways to link up to the challenge:

Scrapbook sketch

Card Sketch 

or a project using the theme however YOU interpret it.

For me this month I went with the theme inspired by this

Col 3:14

"And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony."

I created an 8x8 mixed media canvas.

I pulled together all sorts of leftovers on my desk and began

gluing them across the canvas.

There are flowers, gems, chipboard,

lace,

and more to be found on here.

A cover of Gesso was applied over everything giving me

a blank canvas full of texture to work on.

Several Tattered Angels mists were applied then blotted,

then misted again.

Followed by several of my Silk's Acrylic Glazes.

The sentiment was printed onto a piece of patterned paper by

Club Scrap, the words torn apart,

and then after being glued to the canvas outlined with a charcoal pencil.

Some Modeling paste was scraped through a Crafter's Workshop 

stencil and then once dried color was added with a wash made from

some of the mists.

Some random stamping was applied at the end.

Because the surface is so uneven ether is never a 

clean image which adds to the overall appeal.

Just a shot to show you how much texture.

Christmas is coming….

                                                             

                                                               It is official!
December 1st is here and for many, the season of Advent is starting today! As one of the most beloved holidays in the Christian faith, Christmas is truly a wonderful time of the year when we commemorate the birth of Jesus!

                  To help celebrate and inspire you to create we are having a special

                                               Christmas Creations Challenge

                                    over on the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog.

               The design team members have created a ton of Holiday projects to inspire you.

                                                          Here are a few from me.

To me Christmas is about the little things. Like finding my 2 youngest sound asleep on Christmas Eve.

In a time when it seems to be more go go go than anything else this respite immediately spoke to me.

Family is the most important thing.

For this layout I'm showcasing the girls again.

I try every year to get a picture of them in front of the tree.

As I am constantly taking pictures you can see they approach this without much in the way of gravitas.

Someone always needs to be goofing off.

I suppose I could get upset, but in reality it's how our family is and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

The background paper was swiped with Gesso then misted heavily with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.

Petaloo flowers, red burlap and gold embossing finish it off.

Last but not least is one of my most favorite Christmas layouts of all time.

The background is Pink Paislee resist paper colored with Distress Inks.

Various stamps from PP were also used with black StazOn to add to the page.

The circle frame was colored using silver Lumiere paint by Jacquard

Some torn papers were layered underneath the photo.

and to finish it off lots of flowers and flourishes.

August sketch challenge at SEM!

          It's the middle of the month which means it's time for another sketch challenge at
                                                    Scrapping Everyday Miracles.
 There are 2 sketches to choose from, a scrapbook one using multiple photos or a card sketch.
as always with the sketches there is a twist to follow.
Twist: include some sort of string/fiber in your project

This time around I took the card sketch and turned it into an art journal page.

Sketches are truly versatile and can be used for inspiration,

no matter what you are creating.

The background is created using the technique I shared back in May on the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog.

I used a Dylusions stencil and acrylic paint for my circles, which were then outlined and smudged with a charcoal pencil.

My take on the twist was some pink rope which I used to create a bow and swirls on my page.

I also added some random script and sail stamping using StazOn.

                    It's a new month and that means another challenge at 

                                 Scrapping Everyday Miracles

"To Everything There Is A Season" (Ecclesiastes 3)

This month's challenge is being hosted by Helen and this is what she has to say....

   

      Hi! Helen here bringing you the Main Challenge this month. 

In my home country, Indonesia, we only have 2 seasons: rainy and dry. Since I moved to Ohio back in 2008, I love seeing leaves changing their color every time the season changes. It amazes me that each leaf has its own way to change color in every season. And in our lives, we experience change all the time...and in every change that happens, God shows His mercy and miracles happen too!

My challenge for you this month is to create a layout about your favorite season of the year. Let your project show us God's miracles and His mighty work as you highlight this season.

The Scrap Twist that you need to include on your project is to use 3 or more leaves --- to remember how God changes the color of the leaves with the seasons.

This is my layout I created.

 My favorite time here is early fall. 

It is still warm during the days but cool at night.

Everywhere you look there is color, yellow, oranges, reds and more.

It makes my heart happy.

As for the twist:

I used several fabric leaves as well as several metal ones.

August Sketch challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles

It's the middle of the month and time for a new sketch challenge at

 The twist this month is to use butterflies some where on the layout.
