Shadows

It's my turn to lead off over at

Swirlydoos

for the Round Robin challenge.

The theme this month is Shadows

and what do they mean to you.

Here is how I did my layout:

The papers are from the Prima Engraving line 

and were featured in the Vintage Chic kit from Swirlydoos.

The paper was heavily misted with Screaming Banshee Black mist

from Lindy's Stamp Gang (my favorite black).

and once dry I used black Gesso and sponged it through 

a Crafter's Workshop stencil.

I used an Tattered Angels flourish stamp

stamped across the page and embossed with

Ultra Fine Black Embossing Powder.

The flowers are all Prima basics which I sprayed with the

same Lindy's black mist 

and used little black gems for their centers.

The quote was found on Pinterest and I feel an apt description of life in general.

No matter how dark a day can get and how bad you may feel.

The sun will rise again and it will all be better.

Twinkle Twinkle

Little Star

Just playing in my Art Journal this morning.

My little one was singing the song and it just inspired me to create this page.

I love using the star shape on my pages. This time I masked it off and layered color over.

The color is from Dylusions mists in Vibrant Turquoise and Squeezed Orange.

VersaMark watermark ink was sponged through a Crafter's Workshop stencil and covered with Blue Glass embossing powder from Ranger.

Prima ink in Black Coal was rubbed through another CW stencil.

There is also some Lake Mist paint dauber dabbed through sequin waste.

These are the days...

Today I want to share another mixed media layout I created.

When you want to create but don't have a paper to match your photo it's easy to create you own unique one of a kind paper for your layouts.

Here I started with a map that I tore into pieces. Using Gel Medium I covered a piece of cardstock completely with the torn map pieces.

A layer of Gesso to mute the pattern and then added color all over with Gelatos (blue & green shades).

Once the initial color layers were dry I stamped randomly with a script stamp and a crosshatch stamp for more design.

In spots I rubbed Versmark Watermark ink, covered with clear embossing powder and heated to melt. It sort of created a look of sand as well as adding texture, both visual and something you could feel if you were to rub your hand over the layout.

Stitching around the photo to draw your eye to it.

and a rub on as my title.

Sharing an art journal page that was recently featured in Scrapbook News and Review.

I love this quote and when showcasing it I need to do something with lots and lots of color.

Layers and layers of Lindy's Stamp Gang mists along with several Crafter's Workshop stencils.

  The stars are created with another stencil and acrylic paint. The is also some clear embossing in the upper left and lower right to create a resist for the mists.
