October Hopping with Craft Hoarders Anonymous!

Welcome everyone!

It's time for another hop with the ladies of 

Craft Hoarders Anonymous.

Each month on the 5th we'll share ideas and inspiration on how you can use

up your stash.

Once a month a group of us will get together to inspire, share, and show you how to use up 

your hoard.

This month I used up a bunch of hoarded Gelli prints

and turned them into art journal pages for an upcoming swap.

I have such a large stack of prints that I barely made a dent in it with this project

Here is a small overview of several and below are closeups of the pages.

This first page is a pink and black base using Stencil Girl & Crafter's Workshop stencils.

Once the stars were added,  some Liquitex acrylic ink was flicked  on

and misted with water to make some drips.

The next two use a variety of stencils and multiple layers

of paint over Gelli prints.

Rub ons and Washii tape added as accents.

A blue Gelli print base combined with 

book text also gel printed to create this heart page.

The inside of the heart is lined with an Intense pencil and the word was stamped

and traced over with an acrylic paint marker.

Some Washii tape, stamping and coloring were added to this Gelli print.

The stamp is from Donna Downey,

once stamped it was traced over with an acrylic paint marker and colored in with Pitt Big Brush markers.

Another blue printed base with various

Liquitex Acrylic inks dripped down.

Rub ons were added and the heart was cut from another piece of Gelli printed book text.

The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of Gelli printed tissue paper.

The larger blue circles were cut from a piece of Gelli printed tissue paper.

(I love using my Gelli plate with tissue paper, you get added depth from the wrinkles in the paper,

and the layers blend seamlessly in collage)

Gelli Printing with the girls and NeoColor IIs

As we are reaching the final stretch of summer vacation

I am starting to hear those dreaded words

"I'm bored!"

The other day I heard them followed by "can I make art?"

but not just art, the 8 year old wanted to use the Gelli Plate.

She loves using it but, being 8, she can make quite a mess (and while I am a messy creator sometimes her messes are even too much for me) so I needed a way for her to use it but keep the mess at a minimum and clean up easy.

I pulled out my NeoColor IIs, the Gelli Plate, 

and a spray bottle filled with water.

She would mist the plate, doodle on it with the NeoColor IIs 

(which are water soluble)

and then lift her image with a variety of paper.

This kept her occupied for over an hour.

AND gave me some backgrounds and printed papers that I can include in my work.

BONUS!

Yep that is her arm in Frog Flannel PJs.

100 degrees in summer and she still wears them.

I pick my battles.

She just doodled away on the wet plate.

One more print....

Clean up was super easy, basically just wiping the extra water from the table.

The crayons did stain the plate a bit, 

but no more than when I use spray inks and ink pads on it.

Good news is it doesn't affect the plate at all.

This will definitely be on the approved project list for future reference.

It's a win win for both. She makes art, I get to use it up.

I'm back.....

It's been a loooonnnnggggg time since I blogged.

Finally starting to unpack my craft room again and find my mojo that seemed to have been packed up with it.

Life has been flying by at the speed of light.

Still looking for that pause button to slow things down.

Today's page started when I pulled out my Gelli Plate to let the 8 yr old play.

I sat my Art Journal next to her so she could use a blank page to clean the paint off her brayer.

Later I came back and had the start of a page.

Guess you could call it a collaboration.

I added scraps of Gelli Prints.

Some stamping with Solvent ink & Acrylic Paint

A few rub ons by Tim Holtz 

and finally my thought came from a Stencil Girl stencil.

The explosion of color is making me happy today.

So good to be back creating and playing.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge 20…BOX IT UP!

Welcome back!

It's half way through November (and 5 1/2 weeks until Christmas EEEKKKK)

and time for another challenge at 

Craft Hoarders Anonymous.

Challenge 20:

BOX IT UP

Create some sort of altered box.

You can create a box from scratch or alter a pre-made one.

Your box can be made of paper, wood, chipboard, plastic or metal.

As long as you dig into your hoard to decorate your box you meet the requirements.

The box may be a decoration, a gift, a gift holder…whatever you decide, just

BOX IT UP!

          Eileen is a Designer member of the Craft and Hobby Association and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Designer Council. Eileen is from the Washington, D.C. area where she and her husband live in their empty nest. The newest member her family is a vintage camper, which she is driving cross-country, teaching and crafting all the way.
      Eileen has designed a signature line of ScoreBoards™ Sizzix dies, which includes the every popular Artist Trading Blocks dies.
     Her tenth Sizzix collection was released in February. 2014!

This is the box I created using one of Eileen's boxes.

All sides are covered with art, hearts and little inspirational phrases.

I even dug into my hoarded stash of Gelli Print scraps to finish it off.

I can rotate it on a whim, always changing what I am sharing.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge 16 : All about the office supplies!

It's time for another challenge at 

Craft Hoarders Anonymous!

School is back in session and this challenge celebrates all that you need to buy for the occasion:

Challenge 16

                                               Who Loves School and Office Supplies?
Most paper crafters also love school and office supplies. We love crayons, markers, shaped paperclips, notepads, folders, and more! If you hoard school and office products, get them out! Use them up! Use at least one item that is really a school or office supply on your project.

I created my piece on a large shipping tag found at the chain office supply store.

The background was created using a combination of tissue paper, Modeling paste, Lindy's Stamp Gang mists and Modeling Paste with a stencil.

The image is another Crafty Secrets collage image, layered over a piece of burlap from Canvas Corp.

The flowers were stamped on some gelli printed deli paper, 

stamped with the Posy Patch Flowers set from Heartfelt Creations and then fussy cut out.

I added some circle hole reinforcers which I also colored with Lindy's and stamped on.

My final school supply is a paper clip with the number charm on it.

 Lindy’s Stamp Gang

Lindy's luscious luster is all uniquely two-toned! With vibrant shimmery sprays, flat sprays, vintage sprays, embossing powder and lots more!

Lindy’s Stamp Gang is the creative” baby” of Lindy Plakinger. She passed away in 2008 after bravely battling illness. She was a self-made cartoonist, loved drawing, crafting, designing new products, and creating her funny cartoon characters! Documented Life Project Week 24

Sharing my week 24 page from

The Documented Life project.

I'm really far behind now, but it's all good.

That's the joy of this project.

It's ok to fall behind, work out of order,

interpret how you wish, and create in a way that makes you happy.

The challenge for week 24 is this:

 Use book text

This is my page.

The background is a Gelli Print.

There was some white space so I used a Spectrum Noir marker to color it in.

Claudine Hellmuth acrylic paint was used with and UmWow circle stencil,

once the paint dried the circles were all outlined with a Faber Castell Pitt Artist pen in White.

I took an old dictionary page and colored it with various Gelatos

by Faber Castell, then blended them with a baby wipe.

I then freehand cut out circles in varying sizes and adhered them to my page.

They were then outlined with a Black Soot Distress marker and smudged.

                               

                               

The chevrons are created using a Club Scrap stencil and a Black Sharpie paint pen.

Some random stamping with a Kaisercraft script stamp and Archival ink.

The top sticker and sticker strips are from 7Dots Studio.

The heart in the center is an altered mini playing card created in 

Stephanie Ackerman's class.

On the back it has some journaling.

To finish off the page I took some Liquitex Acrylic ink in Carbon Black and 

flicked it randomly over the page.

I can't believe how chunky my book is getting.

I'll need to remind myself to share some photos soon.

Documented Life Week 20

Slowly but surely catching up on the week's that I have missed in

my 

Documented Life journal.

As always past and present challenges can be found HERE.

Today I worked on week 20:

Week 20 Challenge - Use a Rubber Stamp in a new way

Did I use a stamp in a new way?

Probably not, 

but I'm happy the way the page turned out.

I used a heart stamp to create wings for the bird on the right.

I also used a flower stamp to create a border,

having only half of each flower on the paper.

The flowers were colored with Faber Castell Big Brush Artist Pens.

The background is on one of the very first Gelli Prints I made.

Book text was torn & glued then colored with Acrylic paint

for the birds to stand on.

The birds are from a collage sheet I have had forever.

Lastly the title on my page came from words cut from a magazine.

I love the idea of what it says, and what it means.

We are all different (and should rejoice in such).
