Quick Card Share

Share a quick card I did up today

to send overseas.

I am not usually a card maker. 

For some reason I find the space incredibly constricting

(go figure as I often work on ATCs which are much smaller).

The background in book text splattered with Gesso

and watered down acrylic paint.

The heart was cut freehand from a piece of "paper"

I made a while back using layers of

tissue paper, watered down glue, and acrylic paint.

Stitched the heart onto the card and left the tails flowing free.

Add a bit of text and into the mail it will go.

We rise...

In my continuing share of Art Journal pages...

This is one I finished up today;

while working on my stove top which I have converted into a workweeks until renovations are finished.

Cooking takes a second to creating!

The background was created with extra paint on brushes from another page.

Just use a blank page to clean it off and you have an instant background.

Modeling paste through a Crafter's Workshop stencil, 

and a little bit of stamping with a script stamp and a Club Scrap circle stamp.

The hand came in a Happy Mail envelope.

I wish I had more of them, it looks so cool in real life.

The heart is cut freehand from sheet music and painted with several colors of acrylic paint

Gesso on bubble wrap stamped over and a Black Soot distress marker and 

White Pitt Pen were used for shading.

It really spoke to me while seeing all the bad things happening in the news.

I'm a firm believer in the whole "it takes a village" concept 

as well as Do Unto Others.

When you do you reap the rewards ten fold.

If only everyone could be a little bit nicer

(my ramblings for today).

Possibility....

Messing around today with a friend's art journal.

This isn't my typical creation, both the colors which are super bright and the actual hand doodling are not my normal.

I started out by laying down color on the background with my NeoColor II water soluble crayons.

I then drew in the border with a Sharpie and added more color.

Along the inside I used up a bunch of number rub ons from 7 Gypsies, then misted with Vibrant Turquoise & Squeezed Orange ink sprays by Dylusions. I lifted u the book before drying to get some good drips.

Then white ink through sequin waste.

The hearts were cut out from various papers and layered together then machine stitched down the center. I only glued the bottom heart to the page. The rest can be flipped through and written on if you want to add more journaling. 

I outlined the hearts with a Sharpie.

Super thin layer of Gesso and then a Rub on.

I doodled around it a bit to draw focus to it.

Lastly I took a white gel pen and Crafter's Workshop stencil and created some diamonds across my page.

This page is making me very happy, guess it's good to step out of the normal every once in a while.

No Refunds / No Exchanges

Over at Flying Unicorn there is a mid month challenge entitled Go Bold, Go Bright and you needed to create a tag or card in bold bright colors.

I finished up a tutorial for an upcoming post on The Art Studio's blog and still had some tags and supplies on my desk (along with some rare free time) that I decided to play.

I do have to say when I first started layering I wasn't so sure I liked the direction it was going but the more I added the happier it made me.

I used 6 different stencils and one stamp to get my layers.

For my colors I used a variety of inks, mists from Tattered Angels and Lindy's Stamp Gang, and Gelatos.

The heart I cut out from a piece of scrap paper from one of my many drawers. The colors fit in perfect and the scrap was just the size to cut the heart. I inked it in black ink and then outlined it with a white chalk pencil once I put it on the tag to make it pop just a bit. 

The wings are RubOns from 7Gypsies (I think).

  I stamped the words No Refunds, No Exchanges (stamp is from Hero Arts) randomly across the tag. I had in my mind the thought of  "I'm giving you my heart, you can't get a refund or exchange it for another". It's corny I know, but that's how my mind works as I create, what can I say.
