Joy--with a little help from Swirlydoos

Every month there are member hosted challenges at Swirlydoos. This month one of the challenges was to take a spring/ summer pic and make a winter themed page using only white + one other color. Here is my take on it.

Pic is of my youngest. With 2 much older sisters she sometimes thinks she is older than she really is. Her sisters are athletes and so to be like them she wants to be one too.
The oldest is a softball player, but in a moment of sanity we decided that giving a 3 year old a metal bat and hard ball would not be the wisest decision. That left soccer-what her middle sister plays.
She has played soccer now since she was 2 1/2 almost 2 full seasons and when she gets to put on her uniform -just like the big girls- she experiences nothing short of pure joy.

my page is all white with a tiny touch of blue ( it looks a bit bluer than it really is)

BUSY BUSY BUSY. This time of the year doesn't leave much down time--or crafting time for that matter. However I had in my possession an art journal that needed to be mailed onto the next one in the rotation by Friday. So the piles of laundry sit for a while and I create.
The book is made from canvas drop cloth. I painted a page with gesso and added a bit of acrylic paint. Colored around the edges with neocolors and stamped with acrylic paint. Spritzed my flower with Glimmer mist and added on top a little metal hanging I made several weeks ago.
Off to the post office :)

Cousins

As always I am at a loss as to what to get the In Laws for Christmas. This past summer all their Grandchildren were together for a couple of days.
I've decided to do up a scrapbook page for them and frame it in one of the shadow box frames. Have a feeling they are going to love it.
I made the circle photo matte using a corner punch and following a tutorial over at Swirlydoos.com. Really easy with awesome results. The flowers are a mix of prima & petaloo.

wooden wall hanging

Back after a week with family & friends eating turkey I need to create. I've had this little 5x7 piece of wood on my desk for what seems like forever and today turned it into a little piece of art. I started with a 5x7 thin piece of wood for my base. I covered the wood with a layer of scraps & found text, then a layer of sewing pattern & piece of netting using gel medium. Sprayed with moonshadow mist, put down scraps of TH tape & rubbed vintage photo distress ink all over. The bird is from the Basic Grey curio collection, I colored the crystal swirls with smooch ink, and added a few 7 gypsies rub ons.

in the end a little 5x7 wall hanging

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Whipped up a 5x7 wallhanging today. I crumpled up a paper bag, smoothed it out and and inked it all up for the background. Used one of the Graphic 45 diecut images and added some of my new Petaloo flowers I picked up in the Swirlydoos store. Finished it off by threading some beads on wire and creating a hanging loop. Simple yet pretty. I think I'm getting in the Holiday mood

EEK!

I did up this Halloween layout of my 2 youngest and a best friend. Soccer zombies and a princess, what more can I say.
I used a sketch that Mandy has posted over on her blog http://forscrappingoutloud.blogspot.com/
mix of Pink paislee & 7 Gypsies paper. Glimmer mist, glam and lumiere paint splattered on the background. Grungeboard is painted and covered with embossing powder.

Lovely with Swirlydoos

Happy hump day--Wednesday that is. Crazy day so much crafting time. I did get to whip up one quick layout using a pic of the baby from this summer. Just kind of hanging out lost in thought.
All supplies came from Swirlydoos. I sprayed the background and flowers with moonshadow mist-I do believe this is becoming my favorite "go to" mists in my cabinet.
Edged the whole layout with acrylic paint and stamped with it as well.

Cardmaking with Basic Grey

So the holidays are fast approaching. This means lots of gifts to be made. It's tiring coming up with ideas sometimes. And then just when you think you have it all under control an unexpected guest show up with a gift. What to do, what to do. I whipped up the new Basic Grey Curio collection card kit today. 8 cards in 20 minutes. All I needed to add was ink and adhesive. perfect little gift to have on hand , and oh so pretty

Princess Ryleigh & Stuck on u Sketches

Following this month's sketch over at
http://stuckonusketches.blogspot.com/
I was able to quickly put together this layout using my supplies from the Shabby Ambition kit from Swirlydoos. The paper is Iron Orchard Design by Creative Imaginations. I used glimmer mist & embossing on my bird and flourishes and cut apart a Prima flower vine that I bought on clearance to get it how I needed.

Stimulus Swap Creations

and this is what I created. 3 cards, an ATC, an Ornament and a little 2x3" altered clipboard wallhanging. A very creative morning

Stimulus swap

Over at Art42 I participated in a swap where someone sends you an envelope full of goodies. In turn you make several items with the goodies and send them back.
This was what was in my envelope. Look at all the stuff!

Solitude and whimsies

So earlier today I was all dark with solitude. Those who know me know that I am SO not like that. I try to be positive no matter what. So for my next 2 pages in the Solitude journal I had to go with a touch of whimsy. "Solitude begets whimsy" how true it is.
Layers of paper, paint, ink and oil pastels. Artgirlz collage images.

Picture frame

My oldest dd Shai's bf was over the other day complaining that I hadn't made her anything "arty". I bought this plain wooden frame at Michaels for $1. And with layers of paint, ink and glimmer mist was able to make her something arty. Hope she likes.

Solitude

So I am doing a collaborative art journal with a couple friends. The theme of this journal was "Solitude". I'll admit-it had me stumped for a while. Then I read the quote and things all seemed to fall into place. It's rather dark for me, but I like it.

Parisian Anthology papers and Swirlydoos

I love these new resist papers from Parisian Anthology. The ability to color your paper to whatever color scheme you need is priceless. Swirlydoos had a whole collection of these papers in their November kit- Simply Irresistible. I just absolutely love the layouts I am making from this kit.
