3 Amigos & Mojo Monday

It is time for another Mojo Monday challenge at
(ok I know it's Thursday but it took me a bit)

This week's totally fun sketch came from Shona. Anyone who puts WEEEEEE on their sketch gets big smiles from me lol.
And yes it was a WEEEEE working on it.
I had fun this week.
This is my take on the sketch. The main background paper is a subtly patterned piece by Pion.
I dragged Gesso through a dirty stencil randomly. The Gesso picked up some of the color previously on the stencil so bits and pieces got colored.
Misted with Glimmer Mist & Lindy's Stamp Gang.
Ink through another stencil.
Splattered some watered down Gelato and finally stamped a few stars using StazOn.
Here is a close up of part of the background and the layers.

More of the background, you can see the colored Gesso and dripping mist.
I machined stitched a bunch of circles and then using Gel Medium added random extra thread over the page.

The title is made with cork letters from Little Yellow Bicycle.
They were too brown so I lightly dabbed Lake Mist paint onto each letter.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Joy in the Journey

A Layout created using the May kit Coffee & Muse from
I used a photo of little bit taken when we were in Italy last summer.
She most definitely found Joy in the Journey.

The papers are from 7 Dots Studio.
On the background I used Spiced Marmalade Distress ink through a Crafter's Workshop stencil.
Misted with Dylusions Vibrant Turquoise and then stamped randomly with a Prima stamp and Stone Grey StazOn.

The chipboard pieces are from Prima Divine collection.

Flowers from Flying Unicorn, metal bits from Prima.

The banner is resist canvas from Prima colored with Mustard Seed Distress ink.
I used a rub on to create some faux stitching.
You can also see a closeup of the stenciling, misting and stamping.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Be so Happy....

That when others look at you they become happy too.

This is another art journal entry in a friend's AJ.

The pages are watercolor paper.
The background is Caran D'arche Neocolor II crayons.
Once dry is was stamped with a Club Scrap script stamp.

The die cuts were sent to me by a friend.

I used a white gel pen to outline the plants a bit to give some definition. The quote was printed on Prima paper.
Time to send this one on in the mail.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

With these hands...

I Create

The Swirly Girls Challenge this month is being hosted by Patty.
It's a fantastic one, incorporating 2 of my favorite things to work with right now; Hexagons & Hands.

I decided to create an art journal entry for it. This is a 2 page spread in a friend's journal. I with my hands I did indeed create...for her.

I covered the pages completely with masking tape and a layer of Gesso.
I then misted heavily with Coffee Shop Glimmer mist by Tattered Angels and Vibrant Turquoise by Dylusions.
Stamped around the edges with a Kaisercraft stamp & StazOn ink.

For my Hexagons I traced a Crafter's Workshop stencil onto one of the paper bags Krissy always puts the Swirlydoos kit's embellishments in and cut them out.
I adhered them in sort of a pattern then outlined them with a pastel pencil I then smudged.

My hands I painted with Gesso and stamped them down. When dry I used a black charcoal pencil to outline them

For even more hexagons I dabbed white ink through a chicken wire stencil.
Finally I added my words with Glitz Design small alphabet stickers.
This journal is going off to a very special friend. One whom I continue to enjoy using my hands to create for.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Tags, tags, and more tags

Today I thought I'd share a few more tags with you.

For me tags are fun to create. They go together fairly quick. You can make them as simple or as elaborate as you'd like, and they are great to either keep as decorations or tuck into a friend's bag or purse to brighten a day.

This past weekend was National Scrapbook Day.
I didn't get to do much scrapping as I spent most of the weekend on the soccer field. I did however get to make up 2 quick tags for challenges on the Flying Unicorn forum.

This first tag is fairly simple, some heavy mist on the background  followed up with layers of flowers and butterflies.

This tag first had embossing done and then covered with Distress ink.
The butterflies are rub ons and the flowers I made from a quilling kit.
I usually shy away from handmade flowers but these went together really quick and easy.

Lastly is this tag that is WAY outside my color comfort zone.
Red & Orange on the background, yes I was having palpatations lol.
Some burlap and lace were layered on before adding the chipboard elements from Prima.
Just a closeup of the layers

So there you have it, tags for the day.

Next time you are thinking of creating but don't have a lot of time, give a tag a chance. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Mixed Media Thursday at Scrapping Everyday Miracles

Hey everyone.
I just want to share a tag I created for the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog.
Using masking tape with watercolor paint I created a one of a kind background for my creation.

Head on over to get up close views and see exactly how I went about creating it.

Not sure you want to create a tag...
How about a scrapbook page using the same technique?
Or maybe even an ATC.

Size is no problem, you can make it work for whatever you are wanting to do.

So head on over to SEM, check it out, and let me know what you think.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
