May Hop with Craft Hoarders Anonymous

It's time once again for another hop
with the Ladies of Craft Hoarders Anonymous.

Every month on the 5th a group of us
will share projects and offer inspiration on ways
to use your hoard.
(Remember, use your hoard you get to buy more.
It's a win -win!)

This month I made a group of
4 Mixed Media ATC tags.
Sized at just 2.5 x 3.5 inches they go together super quick
and use up all the tidbits on my desk.

The "monsters" were stamped on to my
"underpapers" which I keep under whatever I am creating at the time.
I then used a variety of markers and pens to add a little
more color / details to them.
Then fussy cut and added to the backgrounds.

The backgrounds are a combinations of leftover paint,
stenciling, stamping,
and doodling with a Wite-Out pen.

Scraps of seam binding were machine stitched on.
Random machine stitching was added to the bottoms as well.

Word stickers from Tim Holtz
added the final touches.

Below is the list of Ladies who are hopping this month.
Make sure to visit them all and see how they are using their stash this month.

March Hopping with Craft Hoarders Anonymous

Welcome everyone to the
March Hop
with the Ladies of Craft Hoarders Anonymous.
Can you believe we are already in the 3rd month of 2016????
EEEKKK time is flying.
Every month on the 5th a group of us
will share projects and offer inspiration on ways
to use your hoard.
(Remember, use your hoard you get to buy more.
It's a win -win!)

Today I am sharing an art journal page.
The background started when I used the page to clean paint off my brayer
during a Gelli Printing marathon.
I often keep blank paper nearby for just such a purpose,
instant backgrounds for future projects.

I added Washii tape, lots of stenciling,
including this awesome text one by Stencil Girl stencils,
and my 3 hearts (for my 3 girls)

Here is the list of all who are participating this month

Make sure to stop by them all and leave some love.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day>

Fabric Tags

We have a snow day here in North Carolina
(mind you that doesn't mean we ACTUALLY received any snow)
and since it was an unplanned free day I had a chance to knock out some quick tags
on canvas fabric bases.

The first tag I started with a
blank piece of canvas and painted all over with various acrylic paints & inks.
I added some stenciling and scribbling with a Sharpie and a WhiteOut pen.

The heart was cut from a Gelli print.
Metal arrow and RubOn words.

The lace on the bottom was dyed with several Distress Stains.

For the next tag I stamped all over a piece of canvas using
the large flower stamp and StazOn ink.
I then used multiple colors of DyNaFlow fabric paint to paint in my flowers.
Black paint and a pencil eraser for dots.

I fussy cut some of the flowers and layered them over each other for a bit of dimension.
Tucked in some ribbon under the different layers. and added a vintage bird image.

That's it for today.
Thanks for stopping by and have a good one.

Made my First Fabric Cuff

I recently joined a group on Facebook
that does a lot of mixed media textile swaps.
We've done collages, tags, ATCs etc.
The newest swap was for a Fabric Cuff.

I have never made one before but loving the idea,
plus the opportunity to pull out my lace and sewing machine,
I jumped in.

I can't believe how quickly and easily this was.
Like layering paper, except this time  it was
fabric and lace.

I went with a blue theme.
Mixing in some beige lace here and there.

As my focal I stitched on a fabric flower with a button
on top.
Added some beads and a metal butterfly.
We had an ice storm this past weekend and I am desperately wishing Spring was here.

This is how it looks on my wrist.

This is the side where it attaches.
I used a vintage Mother of Pearl button as my fastener so both sides
have something interesting on them.

Now that I have made my first I will definitely be making
more of these.
They are kind of addicting, and give you the perfect opportunity
to pull out all the lace & ribbon you've been hoarding.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Heart ATCs

I have been working on a lot of
different projects lately and in doing so have tons of little scraps leftover.
Since I tend to throw NOTHING away,
these become perfect tidbits for creating
ATCs.

These heart ones were all created for trading
with others in an ATC group I belong to on Facebook.
I love the ATC's size. 2.5 x 3.5 inches means you can create quick
and use up even the tiniest scraps.

All of the hearts and backgrounds were from previous projects.

The words are all from various sticker sheets.

Black Soot Distress marker and a white Gel pen
were used to outline the hearts.

Some stamping and splattered mist finished them off.

The size of these are also perfect when you don't have a lot of time
or space to create.
Next time you have some leftovers from a project,
try creating your own ATC.
But watch out...they can be addicting.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Quick Card Share

Share a quick card I did up today
to send overseas.
I am not usually a card maker.
For some reason I find the space incredibly constricting
(go figure as I often work on ATCs which are much smaller).
The background in book text splattered with Gesso
and watered down acrylic paint.
The heart was cut freehand from a piece of "paper"
I made a while back using layers of
tissue paper, watered down glue, and acrylic paint.

Stitched the heart onto the card and left the tails flowing free.
Add a bit of text and into the mail it will go.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

January Hop with Craft Hoarders Anonymous

Welcome everyone to the January Hop
with the Ladies of
Craft Hoarders Anonymous.
Every month on the 5th a group of us will share inspiration
on how to use up your hoard.
Since this post is happening right after the Holidays hopefully many of you
received new supplies to play with.

You should be coming here from Karen's blog.
After head back to Gloria's for the full list or to start at the beginning.

Today I am sharing an Art Journal
page I created using masking tape, my hoarded mists, some stamping,
and machine stitching.
I recently watched a video on YouTube by
Magda Polakow which inspired my page.

I used mists from Lindy's Stamp Gang and Tattered Angels for color.
Black Gesso added after to tone down some of the white that still existed.
Seeing as I was working on scraps of paper from the scrap bin I needed to sew them
together into my final page.
A few word stickers and a new page for the beginning of 2016 is done.

Below is a list of all the other blogs to visit.
Make sure to check out what everyone has created to kick off the New Year.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Documented Life Project 2016: The unPlanner

So I once again joined up with the
This will be my 3rd year participating and the title this year is
The un-Planner.

The first challenges went up yesterday.
As I am still trying to figure if I want to do the planner part or keep it solely as an art journal
I decided to just do the first part.
I made a tag,
which in my zeal turned into a tag book.
And a small card that I will somehow incorporate into a future page.
This was the front of my tag book.
Here are the inside pages.
I kept it fairly simple (for me)
the color is distress ink over gesso with some stamping on top.

I picked out a word or 2 for each page along with a corresponding
embellishment.

Some cheesecloth was misted with Tattered Angels mist and sewn in.
The little canvas pieces I found in the
$1 bin at Michaels.
Sprayed with the same Tattered Angels mist and glued in.
Stitches were "added' with a gel pen.

These are the back pages.
I left the very back page blank for journaling or as a spot to adhere to my journal.
Again I haven't decided how I am going about this so lots of random pieces right now.

This is a little card I did up to add somewhere as well.
The words are rub ons.
The flowers stamped then colored with gel pens.
Finally some seam binding stitched on.

This is looking like it will turn into another fun year long project.
Love how it is open to each of us to interpret as we wish.

Thanks for stopping by and
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
