Be inspired

every single day....

Art journal page that was gessoed first. The page was the misted with rubbing alcohol and then alcohol inks dripped all over.
Used a paint pen to add stars. Some Rub ons and Tape.
There was no immediate direction when I started this page and several times I just wanted to toss it, yet the more I woke the happier it made me.

Be inspired...

Smiling is Infectious

My middle one posing in the garden of one of Germany's many castles.

The background is a piece of Kaisercraft paper covered with Gesso. Using a large Donna Downey foam stamp and acrylic paint the flowers were stamped along the bottom.
A Pink Paislee stamp and Staz On ink create the frame. The flowers were a Prima necklace that I cut apart and clustered.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Capturing the Everyday...

When I first started at Scrapbook News and Review I was introduced to scrapping a 6x12 page. I had never seen these before but they have quickly become a favorite size of mine to work with. A bit different, but oh so much fun.

Paper here is Prima. Heidi Swapp butterfly mask and distress ink. The Title Rub on is from Daisy D.

Pumpkin Picking

In the fall the youngest went pumpkin picking with her German school. We rode a tractor through fields until we came upon the perfect patch. Trampling through the fields while I worried about snakes and rodents she searched high and low until finding just right one.

All paper is BoBunny. Prima flowers and bling.

Long Distance Call

The littlest one phoning home all the way from Germany.
While riding the train from Dusseldorf to Koln we did a little catch up with the family back home.
Long distance calling at it's best.
The patterned papers are from We R Memory Keepers and Best Creation. Bazzill is the base card stock and an actual train ticket from the ride is used as an embellishment. The letters are foam thickers from American Crafts.

You Are Mine!

You are Mine!!! No doubt about that.

The background was made by using a really large background stamp by Impression Obsession with Tsukineko over a piece of Bazzill card stock. To tone it down a bit and add a spot for my journaling I randomly dry brushed Gesso in spots.
Layered some paper and added a Prima flourish, flower and rub on. The title is made using old chipboard I found in a drawer.

6th Grade and Senior Year

The 2011-12 school year started with one ending her high school career and one starting middle school. Both exciting and important milestones.
The Senior Year layout is made using all Cosmo Cricket paper.
The 6th Grade layout uses Webster's Pages patterned paper. The butterflies are fussy cut from a piece. The stars are Oxford Impressions stamps, the are stamped and then cut out.

Both layouts were featured in October issue of Scrapbook News and Review.

Almost Famous

This layout was done for the PaperArtistsOnline Sketch relay challenge. I used all Bobunny paper with a bit of Prima ink and Smooch Mist. The sticker letters are all from Club Scrap.

In December my daughter had a soccer tournament down in Atlanta. While at our hotel we started seeing all sorts of police and secret service members. After asking around it turned out that Herman Cain was there with his wife. I've never seen a group of 11 year old girls get so giggly so fast over a politician. After talking to a police officer he arranged for our team to meet with Cain. He came out, shook hands, and posed for pictures. Leaving the hotel he went on to withdraw from the Presidential Race.
Like I said...Almost Famous.

Opportunities

I made up this little chunky page for a 1 to 1 swap. It measure 4x4 inches.
The base is a coaster to give it some weight. Covered it with some very old Basic Grey patterned paper that I just rediscovered in the closet and fell in love with all over again. Inked the edges the added some Washi tape in random places. (I can't seem to do anything without adding tape lately).
Using a large script stamp and StazOn ink I stamped all over. Added collage image and postage stamps.
The quote is by Thomas Sowell. A tiny gem is hung by a Tim Holtz fastener from the corner.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Crayon Art

With all the post on melted crayon art popping up all over the web my oldest decided to giver a try.
While I shivered my way through a soccer game she stayed home nice and warm unwrapping crayon after crayon.
Pretty cool in my opinion.

Have a great day!

Play!

Play!
An art journal page using lots of paint, ink and stencils.
The kind where you start to throw stuff on the page and see where it goes. In this case a very happy place.

February 3

Today proved to be a challenge in creating. Last night I managed to spill hot caramel all over my hands. Today both thumbs are covered with blisters (I'm reminded on what sets us apart from most mammals lol) as well as a few fingers.

This page started as 2 book pages glued together. A few found items collaged on then covered with Gesso, Acrylic Paint and stamping.
Layers of Washi Tape and charcoal pencil along with a collage image.

Had to go with the quote today. I'm being reminded of it every time I use my hands.
Thanks for stopping by.

February 2

Day 2 in my month of February journal.
I use a shipping tag as a base and college printed tissue paper all over it. Some scraps of pattern paper on top followed with 2 layers of Golden Glaze. Antique Photo Distress ink rubbed all over. Some rub ons and a collage image from Gecko Galz. The trim at the bottom came from an old pair of curtains.

It's especially warm today and the colors of this just kind of mirrored my mood. The back has a bit of printed tissue paper, Washi Tape & stamps. The stencil is from Club Scrap.

Today is Groundhog Day., The Groundhog saw his shadow which is supposed to mean 6 more weeks of winter weather. Our temp was 72F today....if that's winter weather I'll take it!!!!

Have a great day.
