ATCs, a Tag and a Card

Today I'm sharing several pieces which were recently seen in

Scrapbook News and Review.

While I tend to work on bigger things like scrapbook pages, art journal

pages and canvases, it's always fun to occasionally go down in size.

The first piece is a simple sympathy card.

The base is watercolor paper, layered with Washii tape and book text.

Colored with Lindy's Stamp Gang mist.

The chipboard is from Dusty Attic.

Next I have an ATC created on a Gelli print base.

I save all bits of leftover prints, and ATCs are a perfect way to use them up.

The stamp is from Hero Arts, stamped with StazOn ink and colored with Faber Castell Big Brush pens.

A white gel pen was used to add accents.

The next ATC is done on a base of pape rtowel leftover from cleaning my desk.

(yes I save EVERYTHING)

Stamped onto it with a script stamp.

Added the sentiment and a chipboard sticker from Pink Paislee. 

Here is a tag done on another Gelli print done over an old map.

I outlined the buildings and added more torn Gelli prints for the ground as a contrast.

Last but not least is my RED ATC

done for the color theme.

I just collected red items found on my desk and collaged them onto my base.

Modeling Paste is a fantastic addition to your library of techniques.

One technique was used to create the base of this art journal page.

The chipboard is from Dusty Attic. 

Painted with Lake Mist acrylic paint and then stamped over with a script stamp.

The bird inside is Prima.

Color was provided with Moonshadow mist by Lindy's Stamp Gang 

and Distress Paint in 

Peeled Paint.

ATC tutorial

Today we are going small and creating an ATC.

I love doing these little pieces of art, measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches you can pack a lot of punch onto a small size.

Perfect to pop in the mail for a friend, tuck in a lunchbox as a pick you up or swap with friends all over the world.

This is the ATC we are creating.

And here are the supplies you need.

Now remember the supplies are just a suggestion.

You can swap out the Shimmerz paints for regular acrylic paint, or even mists or ink. Make what you have work for you.

I am also working on sticky back canvas today because I love the texture.

Don't have any? No worries, paper works just as well.

Step one: Cut the canvas to the ATC size 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Step Two: Cover most of the canvas with your first color.

Step three: add an accent color in spots and dry completely.

Step four: I used pieces of drywall tape in the upper & lower corners as a stencil.

Place modeling paste (if you want high texture) through the tape. If you don't have paste you can use white acrylic paint.

Step five: Remove the tape and let it dry.

Step six: while the paste is drying stamp a heart and wings onto a piece of paper. I used Shimmerz painted onto my stamp for the heart to make it sparkle but you can used whichever coloring medium you wish.

Cut out the heart and wings and ink the edges to hide any bits of the white paper.

Step seven: Once the paste is dry, paint it with a contrasting color to your background.

Add the wings and heart to the card as well as some text if you wish.

Your ATC is now ready to be displayed.

As You Wish

Just puttering around today working on an upcoming Modeling Paste for 

The Art Studio.

I had some leftover paste from a lesson and decided to use it up in my art journal.

I worked on a background I had made previously for my 

Creating with Gelatos class

as found at The Art Studio.

I love how bright the colors turned out to be.

The wood is 2 pieces from Kaisercraft.

The flourish was cut off another and added to the base of my heart. 

Both were colored with acrylic paint

I Scored a Goal

No doubt about it I am A Soccer Mom.

My daughter plays on a Club team and the State team.

We spend everyday at a training facility or at a game.

Soccer is her passion and I take great joy in watching her live it out on a daily basis

This layout was featured in a recent issue of Scrapbook News and Review.

The quote was found in a magazine and the paper is 7 Dots Studio.

Oh..

and what exactly does scoring a goal feel like for her?

Check out the look of pure joy (and fallen defenders) as she scores the first of the season.

I know , I know, could have been better framed but when you are jumping up and down and cheering you have to go with what you have.

                    It's a new month and that means another challenge at 

                                 Scrapping Everyday Miracles

"To Everything There Is A Season" (Ecclesiastes 3)

This month's challenge is being hosted by Helen and this is what she has to say....

   

      Hi! Helen here bringing you the Main Challenge this month. 

In my home country, Indonesia, we only have 2 seasons: rainy and dry. Since I moved to Ohio back in 2008, I love seeing leaves changing their color every time the season changes. It amazes me that each leaf has its own way to change color in every season. And in our lives, we experience change all the time...and in every change that happens, God shows His mercy and miracles happen too!

My challenge for you this month is to create a layout about your favorite season of the year. Let your project show us God's miracles and His mighty work as you highlight this season.

The Scrap Twist that you need to include on your project is to use 3 or more leaves --- to remember how God changes the color of the leaves with the seasons.

This is my layout I created.

 My favorite time here is early fall. 

It is still warm during the days but cool at night.

Everywhere you look there is color, yellow, oranges, reds and more.

It makes my heart happy.

As for the twist:

I used several fabric leaves as well as several metal ones.
