My project this month is an altered deck of playing cards.

I joined a swap with Jessica Brogan called the 

Inspirational Card Deck Swap.

Alter 52 cards, send them out and get 52 back.

How fun is that?

To create my cards the backgrounds are all from my underpapers

(the paper I cover my desk with to catch errant paint, mist, and stamping)

I added some more stamping, Sewing pattern paper,

Wasii tape etc...

Some cards have embossing 

(to allow me to use pigment ink which NEVER dries on paint)

The hearts on some of the cards were created by cutting 

free hand from painted pieces of book text.

I have tons of sheets of word stickers

so I would cut them up to say what I wanted, AND 

make a huge dent in my stash

52 cards sure is a lot.

They all measure roughly the size of ATCs.

That is 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Almost to the end...

To finish them all off I flicked watered down acrylic paint

over them all.

I love me some splatters.

Hey everyone!

It's almost Valentine's Day and to help you get ready I'm sharing

3 (yes 3)

video tutorials on creating one of a kind cards for those special someones.

                             Valentine’s Day is one of the few holidays when I truly enjoy making

                                cards. The stores are full of them but to me, nothing says you’re

                                       special to someone like making a handmade card for them.

Each card has it's on video.

While I use or recommend certain products feel free to make them your own and create as you want.

Remember these are your cards!

The first video is the longest as it shows some of the "stuff" I pull out when creating.

I tend to get a lot on my desk and narrow it down as I work.

Working my way through my deck of cards….

Ever since taking Stephanie Ackerman's 

class

I have slowly been working my way through my deck of cards.

Halfway done now,

and each one I make is making me so happy.

These little cards go together so quick, 

and are perfect to tuck in cards or a friend's pocket as they walk out the door.

Here are the most recent 4 I have made...

Closeups.

Acrylic Paint, Tissue paper, book text,

stamping and more.

My words come from scrapbook stickers,

book text and even the 

selvage on scrapbooking paper

(the one below comes from a piece of Authentique paper)

Then translating what I have been doing on the playing cards onto

larger pieces such as Birthday cards for 2 special friends.

Almost the same techniques as above

but on card stock bases.

Ready to pop in the mail and hopefully brighten their day.

The hearts on the 2 cards from from an old Gelli Print

on deli paper.

So that's it.

52 Card Pickup…slowly working my way along.

With this being the last week of school,

we have been cramming in all sorts of end of year activities.

While fun, they are leaving little creative time.

It's okay though because I am still working my way through my deck of cards,

creating little pieces of art inspired by Stephanie Ackerman.

I love that they go together quick,

I can use whatever I am in the mood for,

and they are perfect things to work on when time is very limited.

Here are some closeups of the last 4 I have created.

Here is my pile of the ones I had already done mixed with my new ones.

I can't wait until I have a stack of 52 cards to share with you.

Off to 8th grade graduation,

and then it's officially summer vacation.

Birthday Cards...

Now I am not much of a card maker.

I always find this funny because I will gladly work on really small things

ie: inchies or ATCs

but ask me to make a card and I freeze up.

Still several friends had birthdays this past month

(yes past as in February)

but I was bound and determined to make them both cards.

I put it off for the entire month but we are now into March

and it's time to get busy.

I used Club Scrap card stock and

 images

from a Crafty Creations sheet.

The splits were made using a Tsukinkeo ink cube

and a Tim Holtz stencil.

Time to pop these in the mail 

and cross my fingers I won't have to make any more for a while.

Cards galore.

Every once in a while I get into a card making mood. 

I have to admit that cards are not my favorite form of paper crafting, but there are special people who I will actually take the time and make one for.

Today I want to share a couple that I have done up recently...

Some were featured in Scrapbook News and Review, others were for a recent swap over at Flying Unicorn ( have yet to meet a swap I don't like lol).

This one was featured in SNR. I bought a kit of epherma on Etsy that was color coordinated, I wound up using bits and pieces to create this card.

This card too was featured in SNR. The call was to use Inchies on a card. I stamped the Queen's Anne Lace (Club Scrap) and cut it into 4 1x1" pieces. Just a little bit of layering and distressing to finish it off.

This card was featured in SNR but I made it as a sample for my All About Resists class over at The Art Studio.

The stamps are all by Club Scrap.

Another card featured in SNR but also made as a sample for my All About Resists class over at The Art Studio.

The stamps again are from Club Scrap. Ranger embossing powder and Distress inks for color.

This card was for a swap at The Flying Unicorn.

The background is book text misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang mist, then stamped with Stone Grey Solvent ink.

The butterflies are Maya Road, misted then embossed with clear ep. The sentiment was stamped onto a small piece of Washi tape.

And finally;

a Happy Birthday card using up a bunch of scraps. Gessoed then stamped on, the image colored with Faber Castell Big Brush pens. Stickles were added to the flowers for a bit of glitter

  So that's the card share for today. I think I'm going back to 12x12 pieces for a while, I do like my larger pieces lol.
