Deconstructed Art Journaling...Girly Swap

Hey Everyone!
Today I want to share the pages I have made for a swap at
DECONSTRUCTED ART JOURNALING
over on Facebook.

This is an easy fun way to swap art journal pages.
You a swapping loose pages created from 8x8 sheets of paper.
It cuts down on shipping costs as well as the chance that your book could end up lost in transit.
Any base works (for mine I am slowly making a dent in my scrapbook paper stash) and the themes are always fun.
A great way to add to your art journal.

I created a video sharing all the pages and below it are closeups of each page.
As I said you start with an 8x8 sheet of paper and fold it in half.
This gives you 2 4x8 spread and 1 8x8 spread.

The theme for this swap is GIRLY
and it gave me a chance to use up lots of my Graphic 45 images I was hoarding as well as vintage images I had in my stash.

This is the front of the first page
The image is from an old newspaper, and some G45 ones were added as well
When you open this is the inside 8x8 spread.
Graphic 45 images, tape and stenciling and stamping.

This is the back.
More G45, some acrylic clock faces, Gesso, stenciling and tape.

Start of the 2nd page.
Another newspaper image, acrylic paint, stamping, tape & stenciling.

The inside features a free collage image from an art magazine,
layered over papers, gesso, ink and stamping.
A metallic Sharpie was used to add a bit of color to the stamped images

The back.
Paint, stamping, collage image and rub ons

Start of the next page.
Tape, scrapbook paper and a collage image.

The inside is created by collaging over a piece of scrapbook paper
with book text to only have the 2 sentiments left visible.
Some paper scraps over that and a thing layer of Gesso.
Some collage images and stamping with more metallic marker for a pop.

The back is created with tape, scrapbook papers & G45 fussy cut images.

The next page.
G45 images, die cuts, acrylic paint and stamping.

The inside is more collaged book texts, Gesso, acrylic paint & stenciling.
The collage images were mixed with Kaisercraft flower die cuts.

The back.

Almost done!
This page was created eons ago and I found it while unpacking a box.
The image is from a magazine layered over tissue paper.
The Eiffel Tower is stamped & embossed.
Postage stamps & bling finish it off.

The inside of this one is my favorite.
A piece of scrapbook paper, covered with sewing pattern paper, Gesso,
acrylic paint, and stamping.
The image is the last one from the newspaper.

Now here I should be showing you the back but oops! forgot to take a picture.
You can see it in the video though.

That's it for my 5 Girly pages for the swap.
On to creating for my next one.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

And here is the project I created.
I used a wood panel from Kaisercraft and went to town.
Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime
and
A Place in Time
were used.
The coloring on the background was done first with
Lindys' Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mist.
Followed with Modeling Paste through a Donna Downey stencil,
and finally Pan Pastels over the whole piece.

Many of the images (i.e. the bunnies, pink flowers and fairy)
were fussy cut from my very last sheet of
Once upon a Springtime.
(I think it was the very first Graphic 45 paper I ever bought)
The image of the mother and baby came from
A Place in Time.

I love how both the bunny & fairy seem to be
looking at them.

Little tiny Prima flowers and metal findings are on the panel.
Rhinestones from Couture Creations are in the center of each.
Prima flourishes were also cut up and tucked under bits
to pump up the glitz.

Supplies:
Kaisercraft wood panel
Graphic 45 paper: Once Upon a Springtime & A Place in Time
Pan Pastels
Lindy's Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mist
Distress Paint, Gesso
Donna Downey Stencil
Prima: flowers, metal findings, flourishes
Rhinestones: Couture Creations
Book Text, Washii Tape & Doily

Mojo Monday (even though it's Thursday)

Double posting today
whoohoo
mostly cause I seem to have a theme going.

Early I stated how cards just stymie me
yet every once in a while I muddle through for
special people.

Right after I posted the 2 birthday cards I realized I needed to make one more.
AAACCKKKK
what to do what to do.

Luckily I remembered
and their weekly card sketches.
To the rescue it came…
and using this weeks sketch,

Combined with Graphic 45 papers
Birdsong
I whipped up this card in no time.
The G45 papers came from an 8x8 paps which was perfect for this card.
Layering the images on
cardstock.
Inking the edges and bam it was done.
(almost painless lol)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Do you snap up all the postcards at yard sales?
Do you love mid-century modern? Do you long for avocado appliances and orange shag carpets?
Show your vintage or retro spin on a paper crafting project.

One lucky person will win this AWESOME
prize (did I say awesome yet) pack

This is the project I created:
I took a Manila File Folder
(it had been used to actually hold papers before and even though it had writing on it I didn't care…it was going to be covered)
and with a couple of folds plus my sewing machine created this
mini album.

It is then decorated with paper from both the
Fashionista line
(hoarded all the way from 2009! YES I had a moment of silence before I cut into it)
and A Place in Time.

The inside of my folder album has
several pockets where I can tuck multiple tags.
Some tags are decorated with fussy cut images from the paper,
others are misted or stamped on.

Here the tags are out showing underneath them.

and with the tags in.
Lots and lots of room to write ideas and thoughts down.

The next set of pages with tags in and...

Tags out.

Closeup of my cover.
Multiple images were fussy cut from the paper and layered over each other.
The flowers and bling added on top with a few beaded stickpins as the
final bit.

Little bit of fabric from fabric stash
(yes I am an equal opportunity hoarder)
was sewn on to created a binding.

Supplies:
Graphic 45: Fashionista & Place in Time
Graphic 45 brads, Hampton Art Flowers,
Prima Resin Piece, Kaisercraft Rhinestones,
Clearsnap ink, Washii tape,
Manial File Folder

Mary, Mary

Mary, Mary, quite contrary
How does your garden grow?

It was my turn to start off the Round Robin challenge for my team over at Swirlydoos. I love this challenge and try to participate every month, seeing how the layouts change as the weeks progress.

Spring is just around the corner (hopefully lol) and that was this month's theme. The twist was to include images of spring, ie flowers, seed packets, nature etc. The minute I saw the theme I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use.

When we first moved to our house 8 years ago I planted tulips in the front circle. I had never done that before and I grumbled as I learned exactly what digging in the North Carolina clay soil entailed. It was say to say I didn't put forth my best effort.
Needless to say the next Spring I had these beautiful tulips popping up everywhere. They made me so happy. And as the years have passed more and more show up. For us it is truly the first signs of Spring. A riot of purples and greens for me to look out on every morning.

I used the January & February kits from Swirlydoos for my layout.

The base is Graphic 45. Once I had done all my layering and embellishing I still felt like my background was to plain. I took the "Art is" stencil from Crafter's Workshop and some Prima ink in Dry Sand. I rubbed the ink through the stencil in random spots. Not enough so you could read the quote, but enough to add some interest and depth to the page. It was the perfect finishing touch.

There are a few strips of burlap tucked in here and there just for some texture. The bird on the branch is a sticker from Webster's Pages that I have had forever. I love how it looks like he is sitting up and watching the little one.
And for the title, she may be the cutest thing on the block but boy oh boy, as a third child she can be CONTRARY as the day is long. As I started scrapping and was thinking of a title for this page I couldn't get the nursery rhyme out of my head.

In the end it worked perfectly. :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Male Birthday Card

I'll admit it. In a house full of mostly girls with DH as the lone male I am a bit challenged when it comes to creating more masculine projects.
With DH's birthday today though I had to step up lol.
Using Graphic 45 papers I whipped this up for him last night. Had to throw a teeny tiny bit of bling on, just because.

Have a great day
